600 acres of wilderness in the middle of Beverly Hills?

Less than 3 miles from our house is this oasis of a park tucked in a cozy pocket of the Santa Monica mountains, and ringed by a ridgeline encrusted with mansions. Fanklin Canyon is a perfect escape from urban life. If L.A. had a Central Park, this would be it, if only because it is the geographical center of Los Angeles. Plus, it's next door to Tree People, so you know it's well cared for.

This is where The Andy Griffith Show opening sequence was filmed. Thanks Huell Howser for showing me this piece of California's Gold. See Visiting...With Huell Howser #1611
